Hey, I'm Liam
Project manager. Parent. An expat living in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Several years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn't in our long-range plan. Like many expatriate relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much larger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and fresh expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was cultural adjustment, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. Yet gradually, routines formed. We found places that fit our needs, connected with other families, and started building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Ridge Flow Harbor
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Practical know-how from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever there is a meaningful change
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Netherlands goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have inquiries about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Liam
